I. WHAT WE BELIEVE ABOUT GOD

A. God is a trinity of persons consisting of Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
- 1 John 5:7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.
B. God, as trinity, created the world in six literal 24 hour days
- Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
C. God has worked with men in different ways through human history.
1. God never changes, but does work differently with different people.
- Malachi 3:6 For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.
- Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.
2. Although Salvation never changed but always required faith, there were different ways to demonstrate that faith.
a) Obedience has always been a sign of faith not a maker of it! Hebrews 11
b) Old Testament Saints showed their faith through sacrifices.
- Romans 4:3 For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.
- Galatians 3:6 Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.
- Leviticus
c) New Testament Christians demonstrate faith by receiving Jesus!
(1) Faith comes from the Bible.
- Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
(2) Faith is required to please God!
- Hebrews 11:5-6 By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God. 6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
(3) Faith is how we receive Grace.
- Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
D. God has communicable and incommunicable attributes
1. Some of God’s communicable attributes, although not entirely attainable by man are these.
a) God is holy and demands holiness of those who follow Him
- 1 Peter 1:14-16 As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance: 15 But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; 16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
b) God is love and commands that Christians also walk in love. John 13:34-35 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. 35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.
c) God has the fruit of the spirit of Galatians 5:22-23 and expects that of Christians.
- Galatians 5:22-25 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. 24 And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
d) God has mercy and requires that of those that follow Him
2. God’s non-communicable attributes include these
a) God is omnipresent
- Psalm 139:7-16 Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence? 8 If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there. 9 If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; 10 Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me. 11 If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me. 12 Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee. 13 For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb. 14 I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. 15 My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. 16 Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.
b) God is omnipotent
- Nehemiah 9:6 Thou, even thou, art LORD alone; thou hast made heaven, the heaven of heavens, with all their host, the earth, and all things that are therein, the seas, and all that is therein, and thou preservest them all; and the host of heaven worshippeth thee.
c) God is immutable
- Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.
- Heb 6:17* Wherein God, willing more abundantly to shew unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath:
d) God alone is worthy of worship
- Isa 42:8 I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.
- Revelation 4:8 And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come.
- Philippians 2:10-11 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; 11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
E. The different persons of the Godhead have attributes and qualities more unique to Themselves. Because God is far beyond human comprehension and a comprehensive list would be impossible, only a few of the characteristics of the three persons of the Godhead are sited here.
1. God the Father
a) He is the primary one to receives prayers.
(1) Jesus prayed to Him.
- John 11:41 Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me.
- John 17
(2) Jesus taught His disciples to pray to Him.
- Matthew 6:9-13 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. 10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily bread. 12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
(3) The apostles prayed to Him.
- Acts 16:25And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them.
b) He is the one who sent Jesus to die for the sins of the world.
- John 9:4 I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.
- John 12:44 Jesus cried and said, He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that sent me.
- John 12:45 And he that seeth me seeth him that sent me.
- John 13:20 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that receiveth whomsoever I send receiveth me; and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.
c) He portrayed Himself as the husband of Israel (The book of Hosea)
2. God the Son - Jesus Christ
a) Jesus is the image of the invisible God.
- John 1:1-3 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.Colossians 1:15-16 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: 16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
b) Jesus gave Himself as the atonement for the sins of the whole world!
- 1Peter 2:22-24 Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: 23 Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously: 24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed
c) Jesus gave His life on the Cross and rose again after three days.
- John 10:18* No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.
- 1 Corinthians15:1-4 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. 3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
d) Jesus is the only way to heaven
- John 14:1-6 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. 2 In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. 4 And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know. 5 Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way? 6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
e) Jesus fulfilled, or will fulfill all the Messianic Prophecies. He is the promised Messiah.
- Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
- Isaiah 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.
- Isaiah 53; Micah 5:2; Psalm 22; Zech 9:9 Etc.
3. God the Holy Spirit
a) The Holy Spirit indwells all true born again believers.
- Luke 24:49 And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.
b) The Holy Spirit will never be taken away, but is rather the guarantee of salvation!
- 2 Corinthians 1:22 Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.
- 2 Corinthians 5:5 Now he that hath wrought us for the selfsame thing is God, who also hath given unto us the earnest of the Spirit.
- Ephesians 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
c) In the Old Testament the Holy Spirit was not guaranteed to stay.
- Psalm 51:11 Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.
d) The Holy Spirit can be resisted, quenched, and lied to which manifest Him as a person.
- Ephesians 4:30; 1 Thes 5:19; Acts 5
II. WHAT WE BELIEVE ABOUT THE BIBLE
A. The Bible was given by inspiration of God.
- 2 Peter 1:19-21 19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: 20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. 21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
B. The Bible is all we need for life and Godliness.
- 2 Timothy 3:15-17 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. 16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
C. The Bible contains no error!
- Psalm 119:160 Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever.
D. The Bible has God’s promise of preservation.
1. We believe the Bible cannot and will not ever be destroyed!
- Matthew 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
- Matthew 24:35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.
- Mark 13:31 Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.
2. We believe that the Textus Receptus is the Greek text God preserved through the ages and as such, ought to be the text from which translations come.
- Psalm 119:160 Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever.
- 1 Timothy 3:15 But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.
E. The Bible is man’s only way of coming to a full understanding of God!
- Psalm 19:7-11 The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple. 8 The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes. 9 The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether. 10 More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. 11 Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward.
- Proverbs 2:1-5 My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee; 2 So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding; 3 Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding; 4 If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures; 5 Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.
III. WHAT WE BELIEVE ABOUT SALVATION
A. Salvation is of utmost importance.
1. Man needs rescue from sin.
- John 8:32-34 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. 33 They answered him, We be Abraham’s seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free? 34 Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.
2. Man needs removal from Satan’s family
- John 8:44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
- John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
- 1 John 3:1 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.
3. Man cannot please God without salvation!
- Romans 7:18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.
- Proverbs 21:4 An high look, and a proud heart, and the plowing of the wicked, is sin.
B. Salvation is a free gift from God which must be voluntarily received
- Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
1. God created man with the ability to choose. (Genesis 2)
- Revelation 22:17 And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.
2. God desires that all be saved
- 1 Timothy 2:4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
- 2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
3. God saves all who receive His gift!
- Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
- John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
- John 1:29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.
4. Receiving God’s gift requires the following:
a) Repentance from sin.
- Matthew 3:2 And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
- Luke 13:3,5 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. 5 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.
- Acts 3:19 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;
- Mark 1:15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.
- Acts 17:30-31 And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent: 31 Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.
- 2 Corinthians 7:10 For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.
b) Belief in Jesus’s deity and atoning sacrifice.
- Mark 1:15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.
- John 8:24 I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.
- John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
- Acts 16:31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
c) Receiving pardon by faith.
- Ro 10:9,13 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
- John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
- Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
C. Salvation is only through the work of Christ on the cross.
1. Good works can never save.
- Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
- Titus 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
2. God requires a perfect blood sacrifice for sin’s pardon
- Hebrews 9:22 And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.
a) Animals cannot take sin!
- Hebrews 10: 4 For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.
b) Sinful man could not die for man.
- Hebrews 9:25-26 Nor yet that he should offer himself often, as the high priest entereth into the holy place every year with blood of others; 26 For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.
c) Only God would qualify to be man’s sin sacrifice!
- Acts 20:28 Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.
- Mark 10:18 And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God.
3. There is no religion that offers true salvation
- 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, 10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.
- John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
D. Salvation is a work of God drawing man to Himself.
1. None come to God but by His drawing.
- John 6:44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.
2. Man chooses to receive salvation, while God draws him!
- John 6:37 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.
- John 6:65 And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father.
3. Man’s choice to receive is evidence of God’s calling.
- We do not believe in Calvinism of any kind or to any degree.
E. Salvation is secure.
1. Salvation cannot be lost.
- John 10:27-30 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: 28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. 29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand. 30 I and my Father are one.
- 1 John 5:11-13 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. 13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
- John 3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.
2. Man cannot forfeit salvation.
- Hebrews 6
3. All the members of the Godhead defend eternal salvation
- John 10:27-30 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: 28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. 29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand. 30 I and my Father are one.
- Ephesians 1:13-14 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, 14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.
4. Jesus prayed that God would give eternal salvation
- Hebrews 5:9 And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;
- John 17:11 And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.
IV. WHAT WE BELIEVE ABOUT MAN
A. Man was created in God’s image.
- Genesis 1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
B. Sin separates man from God.
1. Man is dead in sin. Sin brings spiritual death Genesis 3
- Ephesians 2:1,5 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; 5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
2. Man is without hope. There is nothing he can do to save himself!
- Ephesians 2:12 That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:
3. Man is without Christ. Jesus is the only hope! John 14:6

4. Man is under God’s wrath. God pours His wrath on all that do not have Jesus sacrifice! John 3:36
- Ephesians 2:3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.
C. God loves all mankind and sent Jesus to die for All! John 3:16
1. Jesus’ blood was the means of redemption!
- Galatians 3:13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:
- 1 Peter 1:18-19 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; 19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
2. Jesus gives life and peace with God to all who receive Him.
- Ephesians 2:1 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;
- Romans 5:1* Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
D. Man is unable to be righteous on his own.
1. Righteousness cannot be earned
- Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
- Titus 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
2. Righteousness cannot be humanly obtained! Romans 3
- Isaiah 64:6 But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.
- 2 Corinthians 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
V. WHAT WE BELIEVE ABOUT THE CHURCH
A. The Church is a called-out local assembly of born again believers in Jesus Christ,
B. The Church’s mission is to bring glory to God which is accomplished through the great commission.
- John 17
1. The great commission was given to all Christians and is kept when Christians share their faith with others.
- Matthew 28:18-20 18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. 19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
- Mark 16:15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
2. The great commission is how God’s kingdom is advanced
- Matthew 6:9-13,33
C. The Church was given two ordinances which are done in obedience.
1. Baptism and Communion are the two ordinance of the local church.
2. These both are to be administered to Christians only.
3. Neither Baptism nor Communion play any part in man’s salvation!
4. The purpose of these two ordinance is to demonstrate obedience and to act as a picture of Christ’s Work for man!
a) Baptism is a picture of Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection.
- The word baptize means to immerse
- Romans 6:4-6 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. 5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: 6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
- 1Corinthians 1:17 For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.
b) Communion has the purpose of remembering what Jesus gave!
(1) The Juice represents His blood and the Bread His body!
(2) Neither the juice nor the bread become His blood or body!
(3) Communion as its name indicates is only for Christians who are in right standing with God! God judges those who partake while in sin!
- 1 Corinthians 11:23-29 For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread: 24 And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. 25 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me. 26 For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord’s death till he come. 27 Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. 28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup. 29 For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body.
D. The Church was built by Christ upon Peter’s confession of His Messiahship.
1. The Church was built by Christ!
- Matthew 16:16-18 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. 17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. 18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
2. The foundation for a church is Jesus and His person!
- 1 Corinthians 3:11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
3. The Church was started by Christ and was treated as such in Matthew 18.
4. Pentecost is when the power for the church’s growth took place with the coming of the Holy Spirit
- Lu 24:49 And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.
E. The Church is the bride of Christ and as such, will one day be taken away from this earth.
- I Thessalonians 4:16-17 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
- Ephesians 5:25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
F. The Church has two offices:
1. The two offices of the church are Pastor and Deacon
2. Pastors and Deacons must qualify for the office!
- 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1
G. The Church’s relation to Israel
1. The Church was a mystery in the Old Testament.
- Colossians 1:26-27 Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints: 27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:
- Ac 11:18 When they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance unto life.
2. The Church does not replace Israel.
a) God made specific promises with Israel that are not yet fulfilled.
(1) A throne.
- 1Ki 2:45 And king Solomon shall be blessed, and the throne of David shall be established before the LORD for ever.
(2) An enduring family.
a) Persecution without annihilation
- Genesis 22:15-17 And the angel of the LORD called unto Abraham out of heaven the second time, 16 And said, By myself have I sworn, saith the LORD, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son: 17 That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies;
b) Still a people after dispersion
- Ne 1:9 But if ye turn unto me, and keep my commandments, and do them; though there were of you cast out unto the uttermost part of the heaven, yet will I gather them from thence, and will bring them unto the place that I have chosen to set my name there.
- Jer 31:8 Behold, I will bring them from the north country, and gather them from the coasts of the earth, and with them the blind and the lame, the woman with child and her that travaileth with child together: a great company shall return thither.
c) Their own nation in the middle of enemies
- Eze 34:13 And I will bring them out from the people, and gather them from the countries, and will bring them to their own land, and feed them upon the mountains of Israel by the rivers, and in all the inhabited places of the country.
b) God made an unconditional land covenant with Israel.
- Genesis 15:16-21 But in the fourth generation they shall come hither again: for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet full. 17 And it came to pass, that, when the sun went down, and it was dark, behold a smoking furnace, and a burning lamp that passed between those pieces. 18 In the same day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates: 19 The Kenites, and the Kenizzites, and the Kadmonites, 20 And the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Rephaims, 21 And the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Girgashites, and the Jebusites.
c) God made eternal covenants with physical people.
- Genesis 17:8 And I will give unto thee, and to thy seed after thee, the land wherein thou art a stranger, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God.
- Genesis 48:4 And said unto me, Behold, I will make thee fruitful, and multiply thee, and I will make of thee a multitude of people; and will give this land to thy seed after thee for an everlasting possession.
3. The Church was grafted in to Christ!
- Romans 11:17-24 And if some of the branches be broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree, wert graffed in among them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive tree; 18 Boast not against the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest not the root, but the root thee. 19 Thou wilt say then, The branches were broken off, that I might be graffed in. 20 Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear: 21 For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee. 22 Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off. 23 And they also, if they abide not still in unbelief, shall be graffed in: for God is able to graff them in again. 24 For if thou wert cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature, and wert graffed contrary to nature into a good olive tree: how much more shall these, which be the natural branches, be graffed into their own olive tree?
4. Israel rejected Jesus as their Messiah and the Church is to draw Israel back to God!
- Romans 11:11 I say then, Have they stumbled that they should fall? God forbid: but rather through their fall salvation is come unto the Gentiles, for to provoke them to jealousy.
5. One day God will work with literal Israel again!
- Romans 11:26-28 And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob: 27 For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins. 28 As concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes: but as touching the election, they are beloved for the fathers’ sakes.
6. God calls Christians to love Israel
- Genesis 12:1-3 Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee: 2 And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: 3 And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.
- Ps 122:6 Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee.
H. The Church corporately and individually is called to holiness.
1. Holiness equates separation: separation from sin and separation unto God!
- 2 Corinthians 6:17* Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,
- Romans 12:1-2 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2* And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
2. God demands separation and calls for unity with Himself not with the world! John 17
3. The standard for holiness is God Himself!
- 1 Peter 1:14-16 As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance: 15 But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; 16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
I. Giving to the church is how Christians show God that they recognize Him as the Giver.
1. Every Christian should give and should do so generously and cheerfully.
- 2 Corinthians 9:7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.
2. The standard for giving is higher in the NT with the church
a) God does not only ask for part of our finances
b) God demands that we give Him all! Romans 12:1
VI. WHAT WE BELIEVE ABOUT THE HOME
A. The Husband’s role
1. The Husband is to be the loving leader of the home.
- Ephesians 5:23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.
2. Husbands are to love their wives sacrificially as Christ loved the church.
- Ephesians 5:25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
3. Husbands are to lead their wives not follow them!
- 1 Corinthians 3:3-9 But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God. 4 Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoureth his head. 5 But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven. 6 For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered. 7 For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man. 8 For the man is not of the woman; but the woman of the man. 9 Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man.
4. Husbands are to work on understanding their wives.
- I Peter 3:7 Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.
B. The Wife’s role
1. The Wife is to be the keeper of the home.
- 1Timothy 5:14 I will therefore that the younger women marry, bear children, guide the house, give none occasion to the adversary to speak reproachfully.
2. The Wife is to Honor and Submit to her husband.
- Ephesians 5:22 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.
- Ephesians 5:33 Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.
3. The Wife is to complete her husband.A home consists of one man and one woman. God has designed marriage to be for life!
4. Genesis 2:18 And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.
C. The Child’s role
1. They are to obey their parents!
- Ephesians 6:1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.
2. They are to honor their father and mother.
- Ephesians 6:2 Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;)
D. The Father’s role
1. He is to raise his kids to love God!
- Ephesians 6:4 And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
2. He is to train his kids.
- Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
3. He is not to provoke his kids
- Ephesians 6:4 And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
4. Matthew 19:5-6 And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh? 6 Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.
E. Other Areas
1. Christians may only marry other Christians
- 2 Corinthians 6:14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
2. God designed marriage to be for life! He hates divorce!
- Mal 2:16 For the LORD, the God of Israel, saith that he hateth putting away: for one covereth violence with his garment, saith the LORD of hosts: therefore take heed to your spirit, that ye deal not treacherously.
- Luke 16:18 Whosoever putteth away his wife, and marrieth another, committeth adultery: and whosoever marrieth her that is put away from her husband committeth adultery.
3. Marriage is between one man and one woman. Romans 1
4. Violators of the holiness of marriage can disqualify themselves from certain areas of service to God! 1 Timothy 3; Titus
- 1Hebrews 13:4 Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.
- 1Co 6:18 Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.
VII. WHAT WE BELIEVE ABOUT ANGELS
A. Angels were created by God and serve Him in different capacities.
- Hebrews 1:14 Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?
1. There are different levels of Angels
a) Seraphims
- Isaiah 6:2 Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly.
b) Cherubs
- Eze 28:14 Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.
c) Archangel
- Jude 9 Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.
2. Only three angels are given names
a) Michael
- Re 12:7 And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels,
b) Gabriel
- Luke 1:19 And the angel answering said unto him, I am Gabriel, that stand in the presence of God; and am sent to speak unto thee, and to shew thee these glad tidings.
c) Lucifer
- Isaiah 14:12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!
3. Evil angels are called demons
B. Angels were given the choice to serve God and one third of them followed Satan in his rebellion against God.
- Revelation 12:4 And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born.
C. Angels are never worthy of being worshiped.
- Revelation 19:10 And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.
- Revelation 22:9 Then saith he unto me, See thou do it not: for I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of this book: worship God.
D. Satan, as God’s enemy, was defeated by Christ and awaits his sentence to the lake of fire. Revelation 20:10-15
E. Hebrews 2:14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;
VIII. WHAT WE BELIEVE ABOUT THE FUTURE
A. What we believe about the rapture
1. The rapture is the catching away of Christ’s Bride.
a) Jesus took the Father’s wrath for sin so His Bride will not have to go through the Tribulation which is a pouring out of God’s wrath!
b) Jesus saves from wrath to come not out of wrath to come (απο not εκ)
- 1Thessalonians 1:10 And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come.
2. The rapture is the next event on the prophetic calendar. It could happen at any time.
- I Corinthians 15:51-52 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, 52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
3. The rapture will happen unexpectedly.
- 1 Corinthians 15:52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
4. The rapture is the removal to heaven of all those who have put their faith in Christ.
- 1 Thessalonians 4:13-17 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. 15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. 16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
B. What we believe about the tribulation
1. The tribulation will start with a peace treaty between the Anti-Christ and Israel after the Bride of Christ is removed.
- Daniel 9:27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.
- 2 Thessalonians 2:7 For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.
2. The tribulation will last for seven years.
- Revelation 11:2 But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months.
- Revelation 13:5 And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months.
- Revelation 12:6 And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days.
3. The second half of the tribulation is more severe when the Anti-Christ claims deity.
- Matt 24:21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.
- 2 Thessalonians 2:4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.
4. Many will be saved during this time.
a) Those who are saved will be persecuted.
- Revelation 12:17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.
b) Those who understood and rejected before the rapture will be blinded to the truth.
- 2 Thessalonians 2:11-12 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: 12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
5. God will use three different ways give the Gospel. Revelation 7; 14
a) An angel will fly through heaven.
b) God will have two witnesses who will preach and be killed in Jerusalem.
c) One hundred and forty four thousand will preach
(1) These will be Jews.
(2) These will be from the twelve tribes.
(3) These will by virgin men.
(4) These will be marked by God for protection from some of the plagues that God brings!
C. What we believe about hell
1. Hell is a place of separation from God.
a) God created hell for the devil and his angels
- Matthew 25:41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:
b) Those separate from Christ now who die in this condition will be eternally separated from Him!
- Mt 25:46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.
- Mark 9:43-48 And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: 44 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. 45 And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: 46 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. 47 And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire: 48 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.
2. Hell is a place of torture.
a) There is literal fire!
- Luke 16:24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.
- Revelation 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
b) There is darkness!
- Matthew 8:12 But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
- Matthew 22:13 Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
- Matthew 25:30 And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
c) There is memory and regret.
- Luke 16:19-31 There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day: 20 And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores, 21 And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man’s table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. 22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; 23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. 24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. 25 But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented. 26 And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence. 27 Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father’s house: 28 For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment. 29 Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them. 30 And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent. 31 And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.
d) There is no “innocent people!
- Romans 3:19 Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.
- Romans 1:18-22 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; 19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. 20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: 21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. 22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
3. Hell will be eventually cast into the lake of Fire!
- Revelation 20:14-15 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
D. What we believe about the Judgment day
1. Jesus is the final Judge!
- John 5:21-22 For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and quickeneth them; even so the Son quickeneth whom he will. 22 For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son:
2. The Saved will be judged at the Bema Judgment.
- 1 Cor 3:13 Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is.
a) The saved will not be judged for sin.
- This would intimate that Jesus’ sacrifice was not enough!
- 2 Corinthians 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
b) The work of the saved will be judged in light of their worth.
(1) Works done in the flesh will not last.
- Romans 7:18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.
- Galatians 5:16-17 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.
(2) Works accomplished by God will be rewarded!
- Galatians 5:24-25 And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
- 1 Corinthians 3:12-14 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; 13 Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is. 14 If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.
- 2 Corinthians 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.
3. The Lost will be condemned at the Great White Throne Judgment.
a) They will be shown their guilt.
b) They will be judged out of what God’s Word declares
- Revelation 20:11-15 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. 12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. 13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. 14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
E. What we believe about the millennium The Rapture is the next thing in God’s calendar. We believe in a pre-tribulation rapture position.
1. The Millennium is a 1000 year reign of Christ on the earth!
a) Christ will descend from Heaven with those who are saved!
- Zechariah 14:4 And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south.
- Revelation 19:11-14 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. 12 His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. 13 And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. 14 And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.
b) Christ will defeat the Anti-Christ and his false prophet.
- Revelation 19:19-21 And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army. 20 And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone. 21 And the remnant were slain with the sword of him that sat upon the horse, which sword proceeded out of his mouth: and all the fowls were filled with their flesh.
c) The earth will be cleaned up for His reign to begin!
- Ezekiel 39:12 And seven months shall the house of Israel be burying of them, that they may cleanse the land.
- Ezekiel 39:14 And they shall sever out men of continual employment, passing through the land to bury with the passengers those that remain upon the face of the earth, to cleanse it: after the end of seven months shall they search.
2. Those who follow Him now will reign with Him then!
- Revelation 20:4-6 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. 5 But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. 6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.
3. Satan will be bound during this time.
- Re 20:3 And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.
4. Sin will be greatly suppressed.
- Isaiah 65:20 There shall be no more thence an infant of days, nor an old man that hath not filled his days: for the child shall die an hundred years old; but the sinner being an hundred years old shall be accursed.
5. Even the animal kingdom will be effected.
- Isaiah 11:7 And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together: and the lion shall eat straw like the ox.
- Isaiah 65:25 The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, and the lion shall eat straw like the bullock: and dust shall be the serpent’s meat. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain, saith the LORD.
F. What we believe about the eternal state
1. After the Millennium there will be a rebellion led by Satan.
- Revelation 20:3 And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.
2. Satan’s rebellion will find many supporters even after Jesus’ reign.
- Revelation 20:8 And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.
3. Satan will be defeated and the world will be destroyed!
- 2 Peter 3:3-12 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, 4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation. 5 For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: 6 Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished: 7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. 8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. 10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. 11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, 12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?
4. God will make a new heaven and earth and will reign forever and ever!
